My Space (review)

MySpace
(Review)
By: Samantha Swanson

MySpace is a still growing international website where teenagers and adults can post profiles, blogs, pics, music, and videos! It’s the great way to interact with friends and meet new people! Yet totally safe. MySpace was invented by Tom Anderson. In 2006 MySpace was the most popular networking site in the U.S. Until MySpace’s main competitor Facebook went international based on the number of visitors.

I think MySpace is really fun! I can e-mail people (and most of the people that I e-mail respond to there MySpace account more or before they respond to other accounts on Yahoo or Comcast). Its nice being able to design your own layout, who your friends are, everything to what you want people to know about you or who can see your profile. There are many ways to make your personal info a secret to anybody who’s not one of your friends on MySpace. Or if you want anybody who wants to see your profile see your profile you can do that too! MySpace is also a great way for businesses to keep in contact with other employees when there on a business trip or out sick! But why get grownups involved? MySpace is definitely a teen’s world! For those of you who don’t have a MySpace you should get one. For those of you who are scared it’s not safe it’s only as unsafe as you want it to be. Try MySpace now!

My opinion I love MySpace my friends have FaceBooks and twitters and I don’t think there nearly as fun as MySpace. Even though they have the same idea as to being able to post pictures, music, videos and more! I like being able to design and control my own space. MySpace has been around longer and perfected every little thing.

Protest against the gross fest!!!

Protest against the gross fest!!!
By: Samantha Swanson

Well everybody knows the construction is crazy and it has been a major problem. But no matter how many people write articles in the newspaper or speak up about it nothings been done!!! Until recently on 4/28/09 Mrs. Donahue toke matters into her own hands, she scheduled a protest for the 7th grade on May 1st 09. She told everybody to wear surgical masks and in 1st period we would sit in the lobby and protest!! Well as the week progressed and more people got excited until Dr. Hockin found out, who know maybe he over heard or Mrs. Donahue wanted to clear it by him. But he said that we can’t protest in the lobby. But that didn’t stop us from wearing the masks!! When Friday came just over half the seventh grade wore the mask (as seen in the picture below of Mrs. Donahue’s 3rd period Social Studies class). It was truly amazing and sad to see how many people truly hate the construction and know/seen how unsafe it is to be here! But Dr. Hockin and Mrs. Caputo were there confiscating masks from anybody wearing them. They were so set on making sure nobody had them that, they actually stood outside the auditorium taking anybody who had them. Nobody could escape it because we were heading to see the high school dance show. Only a couple of people went home with there masks!
It was really unfair to take the masks away; it’s unsafe to be in the building during all of this! Teachers have had to leave there classrooms because the gas from the construction has been so strong kids were having asthma attacks! Mr. Beams homeroom has been kicked out of there lockers and forced to move in with other people or carry book bags, because they found asbestos in the floor. So Along with Mr. Beam, Mr. Drake and Mr. Rigby’s homeroom are being evicted out of there lockers. As for the teachers they have to move there classrooms into closets, and have been told they will not get in again till next year. Along with the asbestos there rooms are being made smaller. But still these are not proper conditions to being going to school in! Loud nose, no ceilings, No windows, sludge falling from the ceilings, construction guys smoking in the hallway yes you heard me. So when all we want is to protest our side we aren’t aloud that! There is something seriously wrong with that!

The haunting in connecticut (movie review for feature article)

The Haunting in Connecticut
Movie Review by Sammy Swanson

About a week ago I went to the movies to see The Haunting in Connecticut . The movie is a ghost story about a family that moves into a haunted house. The house used to be used for séances and as a funeral home. The eldest son of the family, Matt Campbell, has cancer and is currently in a clinical trying to find a cure for it. He sees visions of ghosts that may or may not be real. Everyone else except another cancer patient who can also see the ghosts doesn’t believe him.
I think this movie did not live up to it’s standards. “Call it a Lifetime original movie made for Halloween. Call it a Sci-Fi Channel Saturday night thriller...and keep waiting for something that might actually scare you.” Says ‘Uncle Creepy’ (www.rottentomatoes.com). I agree. The movie was supposed to be extremely scary but it ended up just being boring. It repeated ideas over and over again and didn’t hold my interest very long. Although some points in the movie built up much suspense, the “thriller” was really not that thrilling.
There were a couple memorable points in the movie such as when Mat was reciting a poem that goes “One bright day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight. Back to back, they faced each other. Drew their swords then shot each other. A deaf policeman heard the noise and came and killed those two dead boys. If you don’t believe my lies are true, ask the blind woman, she saw it too.”* The poem was catchy, but scary which made me feel like I was being watched.
I think that the movie didn’t hold my interest because I expected much more from it than what it actually was. But when I went home after the movie, I couldn’t get to sleep. Continually thinking about the point in the movie where they cut off dead people’s eyelids, I laid in bed awake almost all night.
So although the movie wasn’t as good as was expected, it was very memorable. Being based on a true story made it much more believable. If I had the chance to I would probably see this movie again. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who doesn’t believe in ghosts because they would not get any enjoyment out of it. Thank you for reading my review and I hope you see this movie too!

*The full poem was not stated in the movie, but the first line was.

Father at 13

Father at 13 years!!! Happening in Britain! Its true 13 year old Alfie and 15 year old Chantelle are now parents to 7lb 3 ounces Maisie. Alfie who could pass as an 8 year old has not yet fully matured, still having a kid voice. Which is why many are shocked to learn that this baby faced boy is a father. Alfie and Chantelle are still in school to this day. A typical day is waking up, feeding, and changing the baby. Giving the baby to Chantelles mom and going off to school then coming home doing home work, feeding and playing with the baby, going to sleep then trading off and on with waking up and feeding Masise. They both do not have jobs, as do Chantelles dad who he and his wife and there 5 boys are living on benefits. Chantelles parents allow Alfie to spend the night; he even has a change of clothes at her house to go straight to school form Chantelles house. Chantelle reports “Alfies been a great dad he’s waken up with Masise and feed her, he wasn’t good at it but hens getting better”. Many are complaining that the 13 and 15 year olds are not suited to be good parents while others and officials are giving them a chance. Then there are two boys who are claiming that THERE the father! 16 year old Richard Goodsell is saying that he has had multiple sexual encounters with Chantelle and 14 year old( I still need to find the name of this boy I had it but I can’t find it) claims he and Chantelle bedded once. So is Alfie really the father???….. Well tests are being done but Alfie and Chantelle both state that he is the father and Alfie said he will not leave Massie now even if he is the father. That’s all now but I’ll keep you updated on my blog, Swammy the octopus, on blogger.com. Thanks for reading!

April Fools

Yes, it’s true the mega hot vampires and semi hot….. Well non vampires, are calling a quits! Rumor has it that they all have there personal reasons for leaving the movie, when they were just about to start filming the sequel to Twilight, NEW MOON!!!!!!!! Some say that Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) said “why come back to film 4 scenes then leave for a year or so, to come back and film eclipse, no they can find there self’s a new Edward Cullen”! Now I love Rob but that’s being a little selfish don’t you think?? Then others say Kirsten Stewart (Bella swan) is sick of all the pictures and interviews and rather make little movies then have to go through this kind of torture!! Its sad Kirsten I think after making all those little movies that when you caught a break you would keep it going for as long as possible. Well anyway, I can’t forget those little actors. OPPS!!!!!!! I forgot, that’s the reason why there quitting yep, jasper, Alice, Emmett, Rosalie, Carslie, Esme, and Bella’s dad, and all of bells friends at school ( Who’s names I forget). Are leaving well because Bella and Edward are, why stay around when these going to be no movie. The only person that’s still on board is Taylor Laurent (Jacob Black), who claims he can do the whole movie by himself. Well there’s no need for that Jacob, because…………………………………… APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes this whole article is a joke. Nobodies quitting that I know of. New moon is still about to start filming and none of the stars egos are that big. So Happy April fools, I fooled you! I hope! Thanks for reading!
